About Our Founder

Founder Janet Richards

Our founder Janet Richards, National Awardee - Badge of Honour for Meritourious Service. [BH(M)], BSc Hons / JP has spent her life giving back and helping children who need it most. At a young age in Kendal, Hanover, she inherited this lifestyle from her late mother Joyce Ennis and late Father Nehemiah Ennis. As the last child (Wash Belly), she watched her late parents extending a hand to needy persons in the community, no matter how small it was. As she got older and was able to be more resourceful, she decided to form her own foundation.

Before the inception of the Janet Richards Foundation, she volunteered with the following groups:


  1. Scotiabank Foundation - Western Vice-President Scotiabank Volunteer
  2. Salvation Army - Chairman / Board Member
  3. Kiwanis Club - Director / Member
  4. Ruseas High School - Board Member (12 years) Active Past Student and Former Head Girl
  5. Montego Bay Infant School - Board Member
  6. Farm Heights Basic School - Board Member
  7. Montego Bay High School - Executive Member of the PTA (10 Years)
  8. St. James Red Cross of Jamaica - Member
  9. Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce- Member

She currently holds the following positions:

  3. Governor-General I Believe Ambassador
  4. Prime Minister Awardee - Community Service
